SEIU California: Court Upholds Justice for Immigrants & All Californians Committed to Dignity in Our Workplaces & Communities

Sacramento, CA – The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California released the following statement from David Huerta SEIU USWW president and executive board member of SEIU California on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling today upholding two California laws – AB 450 and SB 54 – that provided needed protection for immigrants in workplaces and communities:

“Working people across California have fought to protect our workplaces and communities with the safeguards of AB 450 and SB 54 that help our immigrant brothers and sisters work and live alongside us. The ruling today by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejecting the Trump Administration’s attempt to block these protections brings great justice for all Californians as we remain committed to ensuring respect and dignity for all, no matter one’s immigration status.”

“SEIU California will continue to fight back against the President’s racist agenda and merciless obsession with tearing apart our communities and keeping families separated whether it’s in the courts or at the borders.”
