Bad budget deal with deep cuts and a cap passes...cont.
Selected budget cuts:
- Over $11 billion in cuts to our schools, which will result in layoffs of teachers and school personnel, program cuts, & larger classes
- Over $1 billion in cuts to state employees’ pay
- Cutting those who provide care and support for people with disabilities and their families, by at least $289 million
- Shutting the door on future college students with cuts of $427.6 million to UC and CSU
- Cuts of hundreds of millions in basic support for low-income seniors and people with disabilities and for families struggling to get back in the workforce
- Possible cuts of nearly $1 billion more to home care, healthcare, CalWORKS, and higher education and (depending on whether the state receives $10 billion or more in federal funds)
