Take Action: Help Strengthen the Economy Today

Tell Congress: We Need More Funding for Our Communities - Now!
Many economists believe that one of the best ways to begin fixing our economy is to provide more federal funding to state and local government to stop layoffs and major cutbacks that will further hurt our economic future.

We need Congress to act immediately to provide more federal funding that will allow us to maintain the vital services our communities need, build and maintain our critical infrastructure (roads, bridges, schools, etc.), and keep people working.

Here's what you can do:
Call your U.S. senators and U.S. representative and tell them to:

Pass a fiscal relief and economic recovery package that keeps people working and helps our communities by providing significant new funding: to state and local government; to build and maintain our critical infrastructure; and to increase Medicaid, unemployment and food stamps funding for people already suffering.

Economic Recovery Packages Are NOT Created Equal:

There are two main approaches to fiscal stimulus to help fix the economy. One would put more money into the pockets of the wealthy and big corporations. SEIU's approach would shore up state and local government to stop layoffs and major cutbacks, and provide help for working families who are struggling under the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.
